BibliOdyssey is a sweet blog, mostly images of old book-related treasures. Today it shows some incredible book covers, some ancient, some relatively recent, from a show in Holland.
Older posts include such visual pleasures as the Dresden Codex, showing pages from the Maya civilization; the War Book, a collection of military images from 1496; incredible old Japanese toys; a captivating collection of 1930 airbrush art by E. McKnight Kauffer: The World in 2030 A.D.; and much more. It pays to poke around the site. The right-hand column has a list of categories near the top. If you scroll down, you will find a drop-down list of archived posts by date, as well as sample illustrations from old posts (which seems to show up at random, or only on very long posts). There is also an “emporium,” which can easily lead the susceptible to buy one (or more) of glorious old books (or their reproductions) from links to booksellers. The author, Peacay, from Sidney — modestly refers to himself as the curator of the site. What a treat this place is. __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |
