Default Emulate min-width in MSIE?

I find myself wrestling with yet another of MSIE's bizarre shortcomings, and I'm looking for help in doing it. You folks have answered some knotty questions in the past, so...

To be exact, I need to figure out how to get MSIE 6 to emulate the min-width attribute on either a div or a table. Preferably a div. I found a couple of suggested answers in a websearch, but none of them made a whole lot of sense -- talking about Javascript embedded in the CSS file, but the sample code looked like it belonged in an HTML file.

Anyone have any help to offer?
