The Hermes Eudora is faster (quite appropriate given the name I think...'-}}) and I'm not sure why but I suspect it's because of the new TLS version--it may be that the older TLS version is inherently slower...

I've never used filters so no experience with them but it sounds like you've found the control mechanism...
