Default Indesign Boxed Character

I need to create a number of boxed letters like A in this image. I know how to do it with a small frame or table cell. I can do the reversed word with a rule.

Can anyone suggest a mechanism that keeps the big letter as paragraph text? I think I could do this in Ventura, but can't see a way in ID CS6.
