[PR] PageStream: Multi-platform DTP s/w
It’s not just that I am a sucker for the little guys, but PageStream is a capable layout program at a modest price. Even more helpful for some users, it is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Amiga — yes, Amiga! (That’s where it began.) They are beginning to release version 5. Here are excerpts from the PageStream sales site.
PageStream lists for $99; PageStream Professional is $149. Upgrade prices and other details are listed at the web site.
PageStream is a full-featured desktop publishing program. It is suitable for all levels of publishing, from simple newsletters to color advertisements to technical books. With PageStream you can create letters, colorful schoolwork, presentations, business cards and any other type of document.
Deron Kazmaier was one of the first to develop a desktop publishing program. The first version of PageStream, known at the time as Publishing Partner, was released in 1986 for Atari ST computers and has been continously updated and improved since! Personal Publishing magazine was one of the first to review it and called it a "knockout program" and we are confident you will agree PageStream is better today.
PageStream5.0 for Windows requires Windows 95 or greater, or NT 4.0 or greater. Intel/AMD compatible processor only at this time. Will still work under emulation with Alpha based workstations.
PageStream5.0 for Linux requires any x86 Linux installation that includes Gnome+2.0/GTK+2.0 packages or newer. (More generally, an installation that can run a current version of Gimp.) It also requires 30MB of hard drive space.
PageStream5.0 for Amiga68k will require at least a 68020 processor with AmigaOS 3.0 or later. It will also require at least 30MB of hard drive space and 16mb of memory available to PageStream. We recommend a 68040 or better, 24mb of memory, and a non-interlaced display. Development is nearly complete and betas are available to all who purchase it before the final version is made available.
PageStream5.0 for AmigaPPC will work on any PPC system that OS4 will run on. It also requires at least 25MB of hard drive space and 20mb of memory available to PageStream. Development is nearly complete and betas are available to all who purchase it before the final version is made available.
PageStream 4.1 for Macintosh OS X requires OS 10.1 or above. It also requires 40MB of hard drive space. This version has not yet been finalized and any purchase before the final release will also receive access to interim releases at no additional charge. Any early purchases will also receive PageStream for Classic Macintosh at no additional charge.
PageStream5.0 for MorphOS will work on any PPC system that MorphOS will run on. It also requires at least 30MB of hard drive space and 20mb of memory available to PageStream. Development is nearly complete and betas are available to all who purchase it before the final version is made available.
