Actual browser sizes (maybe)
Pointing out that knowing the size of web user’s screens doesn’t provide useful information for designing web sites, Thomas Baekdal has done a study of the sizes of browser content areas.
His report, “Actual Browser Sizes,” came to some conclusions that surprised me. Maybe it was the nature of the test sites: the author’s site, two teen-age fashion sites, one women’s fashion site, and one men’s fashion site. No news sites, forums, blogs, Amazon, or U-Tube, for example.
But it still makes for interesting reading, and it includes lots of charted data.
