It may still be possible to update your software to the last version of PageMaker, version 7, which would be marked “Adobe PageMaker.” But I don’t know if that can be installed on a Dual Core machine (PC or Mac), either. Exactly what computer and model do you have? __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |

Adobe PageMaker 7 runs on PC with Intel CoreDuo. I've used it, although only a bit.

PC - yes - still will run (not sure about Vista yet)
MAC - no - will not run above OS9, and classic can not be installed on Intel boxes. MSD Adobe PageMaker 7 runs on PC with Intel CoreDuo. I've used it, although only a bit. |

You know, if you were to ask this question on the Adobe InDesign forum, the answer you'd get is "GET INDESIGN!"
As you have a Core 2 Dual, you're running at the VERY least Windows 2000 or XP Home if not XP Pro or Vista. As ktinkel has suggested, if Aldus PageMaker, you have VERY old software which may not even install in XP properly, let alone run. Even Adobe branded PageMaker is old. The newest, version 7 dates from around 2001. What makes things worse is that Adobe will NOT releease any new versions and not even any new updates. If using 6.5x or 7.x, then go to www.adobe.com and download the latest updates. |

CoreDuo is a hardware platform, it is not the Operating System (OS). The hardware platform shouldn't matter because the OS deals with it. If you knew what version of PageMaker you had, and what OS you had, it might be easier to tell you if they are known to work together or not.
If you have CoreDuo hardware you may be running a version of WindowsXP. Before you can install any software you need administrator privileges, and you need to disconnect from the internet and disable any antivirus (AV) and firewall software, because sometimes AV software interferes with program installations. Re-enable them afterwards, before you go looking for any updates. As to "What is the problem." You tell us. What IS the problem you are having? "It won't install" isn't a valid answer. What isn't happening, and if you are getting a specific error message, what is it? |
