Default Jonathan’s book production gig at Peachpit

The news about the new Painter IX Wow! Book reminded me that staff member Jonathan Parker — the man whose avatar shows him with his fiddle — produced this book.

He has worked under contract to Peachpit Press for the past eleven years, responsible for most of the Wow! books, including those on Photoshop, CorelDraw, Painter, and the various One-Click Wow! Books. It adds up to twenty-some volumes and 7,000 pages.

As Jonathan describes it: “I work very closely with the authors of these books, managing template and workflow development, page layout, typesetting, image editing and RGB to CMYK conversion, and supplier communications. I handle text and image corrections, supply final output files, and review all job proofs, as well as submitting file archives for translation editions and future publications.”
