Blogger jargon demystified (maybe)

In his “On Language” column in today’s New York Times Magazine (you may need to register to read) the not-so-young and very conservative (politically speaking) William Safire takes on blogspeak.

I was glad to get some insight into what meme means and to discover that del.icio.us has in its brief life produced the gerund deliciousing. And I found out that journalists who ask broadly for help with a story are blegging. I also learned of the verb to fisk — publishing an article by someone else on your blog and critiquing it line by line.

Not positive he has it all right (maybe some of the people he blegged were pulling his leg a bit), but it is entertaining.

Safire also takes a jab at Mick Jagger’s grammar in a short bit at the end of the column.
