Default Any WordPress experts here?

I manage a WordPress site that is damaged in a way that does not seem repairable. It serves up pages and serves my users, but some plugins don't update for reasons I have not been able to diagnose.

I'd like to create a new WP installation in a subdomain then copy all the customizations and content.

I see lots of instructions for cloning site to a new server, but all seem to assume copying the entire installation. For me that copies the problems as well.

Does anyone here know of a tutorial that addresses this?
