Default Microsoft Publisher file

Someone has sent me a Microsoft Publisher file. Since I do not have MS Publisher, I don't see the point of sending this to me. She will give me the equivalent on paper tonight. Not a whole lot better, if I want it in digital form.

Anyway, is there a way to convert a .PUB file to something else, like MS Word, or even text, without having the application?

As far as I recall, only Publisher can open .pub files. But there is an on-line conversion tool that may convert it to .doc - http://www.zamzar.com/

If you chuck it over to me I can turn it into html for you, or into a PDF which you can open in Frustrator. I'll send you my email in a PM.

If you need someone to open it in Publisher and convert it I would be willing to do that free of charge.
Publisher will convert its own files to several other formats including these
.txt, .doc, .docx, .html, .wps, .rtf, .jpg, .tif, .png

Markzware makes a converter that will turn a Publisher file into an InDesign file. I don't know anything about it (how well it works, etc.) -- I just saw it on their web site when I was looking for a way to convert a Pub file into something usable last year.

I don't get many Pub files, so I didn't pursue it at the time. But I'm on Markzware's e-mail list (they send occasional, non-annoying e-mails that sometimes include enticing discount offers) and have considered buying the converter when they have discounts.

There is a free online service that converts Publisher and many other files into PDF or what ever you want. The only cravat is it has to be under 1 meg in size.
