Default InDesign CS2 importing eps problem

Mac-G5-Tiger-InDesign CS2

When I place an illustrator cs eps image into a "none" colored box in InDesign the image appears to have a "white" bkgd. If i change the display to high quality the bkgd becomes none. While viewing the page with the display on high quality and save the page as an eps out of indesign the box shows as white instead of none on the new eps file??

(I have opened the image in Illustrator and the bkgd is transparent like it needs to be.)

Anyone to help.
thanks
