I have several XML files that I need to translate. The largest one is over 100 MB. The translating software cannot handle this large of a file. Is there a standalone executable that can split the XML file into smaller files and then combine them again later? Should I just request smaller files from the client? I'm not a programmer but I have dabbled in VB macros.

I am curious as to what you mean when you say "translate" an XML file. I use Altova and oXygen software in building XML definitions and work with a company that makes a data-mapping tool.
Are you trying to convert it to some non-XML representation? Perform language translation on the data? It sounds like your current tool loads the whole tree before operating on it. |

I have done a little researching but have yet to come up with anything that definitively sounds like the tool you need; hope you have had better luck.
ISTR seeing an XML (XSLT?) processor that mentioned the ability to stream files but nothing that definitively partitions an XML file. I have seen requests similar to yours. |
