Default Form Processor

Does anyone know of a free php form processing script that would allow me to set some fields as required, can both send to an email address and populate a flat file (something I could export to Excel) AND is easy to set up?

The first step may be to contact your web hosting company, which may have a script, rules about form processing, or the like. There are a lot of PHP and other scripts out there, free and otherwise, but knowing what your hosting company does is important.

There are nearly 300 PHP form scripts listed on HotScripts, so that is a good place to start. However, "free" is not necessarily the best option, as you will need to ensure security of the script, protect it from spamming and in many cases, modify the script to your requirements. Also most free scripts that write to a database will use MySQL. It is not difficult to export from MySQL to Excel, but if it must be a flat file then there is a low cost simple to use program called Forms to go which will generate the php script based on your form structure.
