Default Win 7 & old software

I've just successfully installed Nero 6 and also successfully been able to burn a DVD so the $5 I spent at ebay for a more current version of Nero was wasted...'-}}

I had browsed around online and everything I read said that Nero 6 would not work on Win7/64bit and there is even a Win 7 warning about how this software is incompatible with Windows 7 when you try to do the install but I chose "run program" anyway. I had set the install exe to WinXP/SP3 compatibility mode and also set "Run as Admin"--I did the same thing (after the same dire warnings) on the Nero 6 update patch. The install completed normally on both the software and the update patch.

I only burn data CDs and DVDs so I set my shortcut to the "nero.exe" in the "Nero" subfolder--I had chosen to install from the "Nero6Ultra" subfolder on the Nero software CD--and set that exe to WinXP/SP3 compatibility mode along with "Run as Admin". Created a shortcut in the Nero subfolder for the exe and then dragged it to my desktop (the compatibility settings and run as admin copy over).

Burned a test DVD of my Windows 7 drivers and utilities and the burn completed normally and I could open the DVD on my old WinXP system. As I opened the software to do the burn, I got that same dire warning message that the software is not compatibile with Windows 7 but again, chose "Run Program"--I could shut the warning off but I'm not sure if it a global shutoff and I always want to be able to choose what to do.

Soooo...at this point, I've installed WordPerfect 8, Photoshop 7 and Nero 6 and all appear--so far at least--to work just fine if I choose to run them in WinXP compatibility mode and "Run as Admin"...

Take that! Windows 7, Corel and Nero...'-}}
