Default Eudora and IMAP for Compuserve mail?

Any of you using Eudora and IMAP for Compuserve mail? Of so, how do you have this set up?

I have it set for POP not IMAP...I think I might have some screenshots...let me see if I do...

There are 5 screenshots in this post and I'll do another post with the last screenshot--we can only upload 5 screenshots in a single post.

The first 2 are the "Properties" for the account/Eudora Personality showing the "Generic Properties" and the "Incoming Mail" tabs--note on the "Incoming Mail" tab, the "Authentication Style" is now "Required, Alternate Port" (used to be "Required, STARTTLS" but that stopped working and the "alternate port" does work so try both and see which works for you...

The last 3 screenshots are from Tools > Options: "Getting Started" settings, "Checking Mail" settings (note again, the change to "Required, Alternate Port"), "Checking Mail" settings (which is where you choose "POP" or "IMAP")...

See the "Sending Mail" settings screenshot in the next post and I've created a PDF of all the screenshots...

Ok...here's the last screen shot--"Sending Mail" settings--along with a PDF with all the screenshots....

Let me know if you have any questions....

Later Edit: I've updated the PDF to include the info on adding the "Ports" suboption to Tools > Options.

After I'd posted last night, I remembered that there is one other thing I have "installed" with Eudora on my system.

In the Eudora installation folder, you should see a subfolder "ExtraStuff" and in that subfolder, look for the file "esoteric.epi" and copy it to the Eudora installation folder. Then open Eudora and Tools > Options: scroll down to the bottom of the Tools list and you should see a "Ports" option which allows you to specify alternate port numbers--for example for, "SMTP Port (25)", I have entered "465"...

I'm sorry you had to go to all that trouble. I was looking into IMAP and was getting some tips over at CompuServe forums from people who use other-than-Eudora. I asked here in case someone here uses Eudora and IMAP with CompuServe.

Andrew

I use Web Mail for a first read of my Compuserve Mail which also shows the Trash folder. Then I delete waht don't want and download what I want to keep using pop in Thunderbird.

It may be a way forward if you are finding IMAP dificult to set up.

I do much the same using webmail.aol.com logging in there and I prescreen my mail there, deleting what I don't want and any spam and then retrieve into Eudora via POP--I do essentially the same thing with my mail.com account (obviously different web portal) and retrieve my mail.com mail into Thunderbird via POP...

Great minds think alike! '-}}

No trouble at all...you just need to choose "IMAP" on the Tools > Incoming Mail section and I believe the rest of the settings are pretty much the same....

I'm trying to set it up as other than Dominant. IOW, I'm using the individual screen for that personality. But the issue seems to be that I cannot set the correct port, or at least that's the theory. Someone at compuserve forums told me there is a ports setting under options, and even showed me a screen shot, but it is not under mind. And I'm using the latest Qualcomm version.

andrew: I cannot set the correct port,
To get the Ports option to display (Tools > Options), you need to copy the file "esoteric.epi" from the "extrastuff" subfolder (in the Eudora software installation folder) to the Eudora software installation folder.

Once you've copied the file "esoteric.epi" to Eudora's software installation folder, then open Eudora and go to Tools > Options. Scroll down to the bottom of the Options list and you should see a "Ports" suboption. the "Ports" suboption allows you to specify alternate port numbers--for example for, "SMTP Port (25)", I have entered "465"...

See the attached screenshots and I've updated the PDF to now include the new screenshots on adding the "Ports" suboption to Tools > Options.
