My order for my new external drive arrived after a brief delivery delay due to snow. I ordered it from newegg and it's a 3TB Fantom G-Force3 Pro USB3.0. It was on sale (a bit) so I got it for $112 (norm is $118) and free shipping.
It's a really nice drive. I couldn't believe how fast it copied the files I used to test the drive (7200rpm drive). Because of the on/off switch, I can leave it plugged in not only to power but also my USB hub all the time, just turning it off (after dismounting) when I'm not using it. I'm quite pleased with the drive and would definitely recommend it. Now I just have to see about getting my old desktop system up and running so I can use it to test using Macrium Reflect to image that system before I try imaging my current desktop system. When I went to register the drive, I discovered that they have a line of encrpyted drives that might be of interest. There are 2 types: An encrypted SSD in various sizes and an encrypted mechanical in various sizes and a bit less pricey than the SSD version--both are portable drives.
