Default Start Menu in Windows XP

Can one of you really technical people (that would be just about everyone except me) please tell me where to find the Start Menu for XP. I'm looking for the menu that loads all the stuff on the lower right hand side toolbar. Somewhere along the way, a bunch of programs have decided to put themselves there and it is now taking my computer forever to load. I want to get rid of all of them except for exactly, and only, what I want.

Thanks for your wisdom and advice
