When I first discovered how Instant Notification was sending an email with a "newpost" link, I was very disappointed. Because this doesn't take the user to the message, but rather, the first message in the thread that is new to the user. This works okay if the message is still the first new one, but it breaks if you have visited that thread in the interim, or if you try to forward the link to someone else.
Well, I just discovered something very nice. If I use "Daily" instead of "Instant," I get the kind of link I want, right to the message. Also, if there is more than one new message in the thread, I get full text of every one, and a direct link to every one -- all in one email message. This is a very pleasant surprise. Not quite the level of OLR I am used to, but maybe this will keep me from missing messages. |
