Unbelievable! And in any case, it'd sure seem like a good reason to keep looking elsewhere

woody: mucking up the registry with entries that persist after you have uninstalled the program.
Ahhhh...that's what RevoUninstaller is for. One of the major reasons I like Revo is that it has flexibility of depth--as in how deep do you want it to go in searching for leftovercrap...'-}}

I also love portable versions of software. So much easier to work with...

>>I wanted to see what's different, but their version comparison chart doesn't include the Deluxe LTE version.

I find it exceedingly annoying when there is little to none, to poorly written, to crap technical info on developer's websites...drives me nuts.

"Deluxe = Deluxe LTE"

My guess is that the LTE stands for Long Term Edition.

There is no difference in the feature package. The difference is the support package. For a standard edition the vendors will probably only support it for 2 years or so. If you want support after that you have to upgrade to the latest version. The LTE version is probably supported for 10 years. Corporate users want the stability of LTE versions as it avoids regular upgrades with the risk of breaking in-house systems.

Except that I'm fairly certain "LTE" doesn't stand for Long Term Edition.

I've been doing more research into this. What I am beginning to suspect is that the Deluxe program and the Deluxe LTE program both perform the same functions. However, the company is actively trying to woo customers away from AutoCAD LT (the "junior varsity" version of AutoCAD). In order to do that, they took their Deluxe version and grafted on a ribbon menu that's [apparently] supposed to closely mimic the AutoCAD LT ribbon menu.

So the LTE version requires users to pay $50 extra for NO additional functionality, just for the privilege of getting a copy of another company's horrible ribbon menu. Doesn't strike me as a great deal.
