Default Fireworks unbelievable!

I have never seen so many fireworks as this year — we counted 15 different sites from the back of our house (only two or maybe three of them licensed sites from different towns), and the air is full of gun smoke. (From the front we mostly heard booms from afar, and some amateur efforts nearby, with little to see.)

At first it was fun, but most are simple — up in the air, a burst, single color, then down — and it actually got boring. And there were lots of little bugs out.

Went inside and found a PBS program on the fireworks set off in Washington on the Fourth. What a production — many people, lots of equipment, serious safety precautions. Pretty sure that most of what we have been seeing tonight are not that carefully thought out. Hope no one has been hurt.

Happy Fourth!
