Default Adobe CS Suite-next version?

Does anyone know when the next version of the Adobe Creative Suite is due for release? Seems to me Adobe used to be on an 18-month cycle, which would make the new version due out in June.

I'm asking because I bought InDesign CS as a stand-alone product. I am still using Photoshop 7, Illustrator 7, and Acrobat 5.

I rarely use Illustrator, and Acrobat 5 meets my needs, but I really need Photoshop CS, and I need to stay current with InDesign. So I am ready to bite the bullet and invest in the suite.

Regards,
Michele

Usually they drop the price a couple months before they preannounce the release. Then a couple more months pass after the announcement. I have not noticed a price drop yet, so my guess is it won't be before June. But this is just me guessing.

There is a new version of Creative Suite, called 1.3, available now. The only change from the original release is the inclusion of Acrobat 7.0 Professional. As an owner of CS, I bought the "Adobe Creative Suite Premium 1.3 Upgrade" package, which contains only Acrobat 7.0 Professional. Interestingly, they didn't call the new Acrobat "Acrobat CS." What this means for the upgrade path of the rest of the CS applications, I have no idea, but it probably isn't imminent because they released the new Acrobat without updating the rest of the apps.

Creative Suite was originally released with new versions of all the applications except Acrobat, and it included the already-available Acrobat 6. Now that they've got a new Acrobat, it might have made sense to call it "Acrobat CS," but they didn't do that; perhaps that would have suggested to customers that it should be free to CS owners. I wonder if they'll be able to synchronize future Acrobat releases with Creative Suite releases?

The Premium version always included Acrobat.

>>michelen: Does anyone know when the next version of the Adobe Creative Suite is due for release?

Interesting question...somehow I'm on an adobe advisory group and I get emails for surveys...a few weeks ago, I got one that was pretty interesting as it was all on interface designs...

One of the designs was perfectly ghastly with all this tranparent ugliness which someone would think looks cool but would drive me batty trying to actually *use* it...

My final comment in the survey was that while slick and fancy might be nice eye-candy, I was looking for a clean, clear and professional interface.

My take on the survey was that a new release is probably well on the road...

I don't know when but you will be very happy with upgrading to PhotoShop CS. If you are a photographer there is so much more you can do with actions, scripts and plug ins and raw!

I saw the beta of CS2, and a feature list as well, along with Bridge, which pretty much blew my mind.

Word is CS will be announced April 3, with delivery 4-6 weeks after that.
