You can no longer browse tradespeople in the category you're after, you have to go through a long session of 20 questions that leads you to a couple of choices. After several tries, because it breaks partway through as often as not. The chosen few start dunning you on the phone at 8 the next AM, but you find that they don't actually do what you're after. That doesn't stop them from calling and emailing again, mind you.

From what I read elsewhere, they're so aggressive because they're paying Angie substantial bucks for each lead, valid or not.

And Angie her/it-self? Email tsunami! I unsubscribed, they promised to stop but warned me it might take five days. [SFX: Bullshit Klaxon Blaring] And after three more days of email, they sent me a survey to see how they were doing.

I seriously outdid myself in the comments section, and ended up by thanking them for sending me this last unwanted email, because it reminded me that I'd forgotten to unsubscribe for their entire service. I really would have been honked off if after all this they'd kicked in the auto-renewal on my card.

They called again yesterday. For the second time since I told them to STOP.

Poor guy got QUITE the telling off (followed by "Look, I know it's your job, I'm not directing this at you. But you know, lie with dogs, live with fleas.")
