Default Vivaldi Email Client Tech Preview

As you probably know, Vivaldi is the browser for people who want to customize their "experience." It is the browser that carries on the tradition of what Opera browser used to be. And now they are previewing their integrated email client. And for the life of me, I don't know why the email client needs to be integrated with the browser, but so be it.

Also included with this are Vivaldi Feed Reader and Vivaldi Calendar. Do news feeds still exist? I'm sure they do but all the ones I liked are gone. I'm open to suggestions.

Anyway, the reason this interests me is because Vivaldi is doing it, and I think they are an interesting company to watch.

You can read about it here.

Maybe because that's the way email clients were originally?

Thanks for the link. I did a quick read and it looks somewhat interesting and I may well try it when it's out of the beta/experimental stage. I am not enamored of all of my various email accounts being actively checked so I would hope that there might be an option not only allowing one to select which accounts to check on a "get mail" but also the ability to check individual email accounts on demand--and, have any incoming mail go to a specific account Inbox or the general Inbox but give me the choice.

I haven't used the Vivaldi browser in many eons--I'm pretty sure I tried it at one point but I can't remember any specifics...

Eudora can do that, so it would expect Vivaldi to do that.

Only in my level of appreciation.

Perhaps there are alternatives now that weren't around back when Opera's email client was a thing. I used it and was very disappointed when it went away.

Would I use a Vivaldi version of it? Don't know, it would have to be better than the Mailspring/Spark combo which I use now.

>> Do news feeds still exist?

My guess: they mean RSS feed reader rather than newsgroup reader.

I should have said feed reader. The last RSS feed I used was Netflix's feed of all the new movies. Now that it is gone there is no way to tell which movies just came out. The "new releases" feature that's left on their webpage isn't what it claims to be.

Speaking of Netflix (and hijacking the thread), has anyone else had trouble with Netflix + Firefox? I can start it up, scroll through movies, look at the previews, but when I start the movie, it goes directly into "Ooops, something went wrong" mode. Chrome works fine, so I use Chrome.

And am I the only one who's irritated by cutesy error messages? If you're going to be cute or silly, how about videos of the party responsible for the flub meeting the cat 'o nine tails instead?
