Default RSS Feed Reader

Not knowing much about RSS feed readers, I added this Chrome one to Vivaldi. I can't tell you if it's good or bad. I have nothing to compare it to. But using this has given me the key to finding out what the new releases are on Netflix.

In my case, it's a button on the browser toolbar. It pops open and gives me a list of the latest movies. I can click on them and launch the Netflix page for that movie. The application keeps track of what I've already clicked on, and shows an indicator. I can also sign up and get it as email.

Some email clients and browsers come with this ability. You might already have it.

It depends on how you subscribe. For example, on some of my sites, I've got a news link that points to the RSS feed of new posts. In Firefox, it opens the feed in a new browser page but a dropdown listbox at the top lets you choose other ways of subscribing to the feed (alternate applications, etc).

I don't use it much either, but it can be a convenient way of keeping up with sites that you don't want to have to visit and browse regularly if there's not going to be much new there very often.

I can see that it would...

Any new item added to the feed will (should, anyhow) carry a date/time stamp that the reader at your end can use to track new items vs stuff you've seen already. In some cases, it can behave quite like an email client (only you can't reply). Some email clients can also act as RSS readers. Opera's built-in email client, Outlook and a few others.

Many sites that offer RSS feeds let you click on an RSS icon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feed_icon
