Default ISBN: get cheapest for 2 books

Ok, my son Ross McGinnis will be asking you about this later but the baby's up and he only has one hand free.

He has two books on Steel Drum technique ready to go to the printers (Bookmasters Inc) and needs to get (register? whatever) an ISBN. The printer (I think he said) will give him 10 ISBN's for (I think he said) $350 and I think that was for the whole batch, not each (not sure).

He's wondering if there's a way to get the ISBN, which the printer won't print without and Amazon won't list without, without paying for 10 and cheaper for the two than $350.

I'm on his back about registering copyrights for the books and muttering about getting them in the Library of Congress. If there's anything else of the sort needed, any help will be appreciated.

Feel free to move this to an appropriate section, if any

TIA

Molly

(miss ya... maybe now the computer's fixed I'll get here once in a while... the McGinnis-Stebbins Cal Press guide to the natural history of reptiles & amphibians is evidently really on the way to the printers... the other McGinnis, Sam, and his now 92 year old PhD professor and lifelong mentor -- I'm out of this one.)

Uh, baby? Well, being a music teacher my son's out of a job -- his wife has a k-6 credential and a good tenured position in Cupertino. So he's a stay at home father (writing about that too, whatever it is keeps morphing between blog and book or book and something). He's racing to get this book in the percussion outlets & bookstores before the rival book gets there.
