I've noticed that over the last several days, my Firefox 1.5.0.1 under Windows XP has gotten increasingly unstable. It's now crashing three or four times a day, compared to once every three or four days back in early February. This is particularly frustrating since I love it compared to IE. I've been led to believe that most crashes are the result of extensions, but I've only got what I consider to be a handful of "Must-have" extensions now:
The most recently installed is Web Developer, but I don't know if that's it. Also, does anyone know if there are any particular conflicts between or among various extensions? Finally, I have several other extensions which are installed but disabled. Does anyone know if these can still be a problem if they are not active? These sorts of things are so difficult to track down. Even with the crashes, it only occurs three times a day, so it will take some time before figuring out which extension(s) is causing the problem. Any strategies for that other than removing one and seeing what happens, then removing another if it still crashes regularly? Carl |
