Need iPad help...
A friend of my sister has given my sister her old iPad2--model A1396 which is wifi/GSM/A-GPS--the only thing I know about is wifi and I know the other bits have to do with cellular/phone networks but I don't know anything about that...
From reading the user guide, it appears that one must use iTunes--oh gag!!!--to be able to do anything online with this thing. Is that still true? The concerns I have are not only getting this thing set up for my sister to be able to use but also to lock the damned thing down so that it doesn't expose her home system (when she uses her router's wifi) to crap and, to protect the device itself from crap. Soooo... 1. Is there any sort of book and/or web sites that would be helpful not only for getting this setup properly but that also discusses security in a practical manner? 2. I have this really strong aversion to the iTune requirement (and iTune in general based on nothing more than an irrational opinion). What do I need to look out for on that front? 3. If it were yours, what steps would you take to set it up? 4. What questions should I ask that I'm not asking because I don't know squat about this? Thank you! Terrie |
