Default Annoying policy

The German software company, SoftMaker, offers a PDF reader/editor (for Windows only, I think) called FlexiPDF. There's a free version called FreePDF, which has many (but not all) of the editing features turned off or crippled, but it's a reader with some added functionality.

The paid versions out there are FrexiPFDF 2019 and FlexiPDF 2022. The 2019 still uses a "classic" menu design, which I prefer, while the 2022 version has switched to a ribbon-style menu. Which means I won't by the 2022 version -- and I have told them that.

Technical support for SoftMaker products is through an Internet forum. Recently, users have reported issues with FlexiPDF 2019. The SoftMaker staff have confirmed the issues, and have classified them as "bugs."

BUT -- their answer to a conformed bug in FlexiPDF 2019 is to incorporate a patch in FlexiPDF 2022. That's ... not ... helpful. I fully understand if they don't want to introduce feature updates in the old version, but this is a paid, commercial program. I think they should patch known and admitted bugs.
