I dropped my computer
Actually, it slid off my lap and onto the floor from the height of a couch. I partially broke its fall with my leg. When I picked it up there was a blue screen telling me that Windows had an unusual event and had to shut down. It was also making an image of memory onto my hard disk. I was too flustered to write down the details. So after it was done copying, I restarted it and allowed it to start normally. Everything seemed find.
Later that day I got a screen that appeared to be a Windows status screen. Except it filled the whole screen. Not a blue screen. A screen with Windows wallpaper and "pretty" text in the middle. It said "Preparing Security Options." Then after about 5 seconds, it went back to normal. I was downloading at the time and they were not interrupted. I thought maybe it was a joke virus. I searched the Internet and mostly I saw a lot of people guessing at what this was. But some said to run sfc /scannow from an elevated prompt So I did. And it said it did not find any "integrity violations." I guess what leaves me wondering is nobody confirmed that "yes this is a Windows message" or "yes, this is the such-and-such virus." |
