Dave Hill certainly has a vivid style of photography.

The main page images are interesting...it appears to me that they people are studio shot and then placed on backgrounds--the lighting on the people and backgrounds aren't in sync in many cases...I wonder if the backgrounds are built in something like Bryce (or whatever software is current now)...
I like his landscapes a lot...some of them are really lovely... I could go blind trying to navigate his website as all the text is barely visible--too small and dull red on a black background text does not make for legibility...'-}} Terrie |

Yes, the navigation system is suffering from "too cool" problems.
So far the ones I checked have real backgrounds, that are either as-is or composites. The people are either on location or shot elsewhere and added to the backgrounds. People are either shot together or composited. Same with other elements. |

It would be nice if he had more info on his process...I did see a link to a blog but it's essentially unreadable--by me at any rate...'-}} Terrie |

I suspect the lighting out of sync is because of use of spot lighting units as opposed to natural lighting.

Terrie, you can see short movies that show part of the shooting process. http://www.davehillphoto.com/bts
