Default Roughed Surface

Hi - I'm trying to print on paper that's been abraided (as if wetted, then dried ungently by hand) with an inkjet - the results are very poor, and i can't substitute the paper (and i've only got a limited supply - experimentation is taking it's toll). Is there a coating I can apply, or a process i can use to "de-rough" - smooth - the paper?

thanks in advance
