Default Does your company still keep dev PCs off the internet?

I have worked in the print, design, multimedia and webdev worlds. The only companies that I've ever seen have 2 computers for each person - one for internet use and one for development work.
I currently work at a company that does this.

My question is WHY? Its not the 1990s any more, AVG antivirus is free, and heck, everything works. Are you still holding on to outdated IT practices?
