I've been trying to work out whether Office 2013 supports Type 1 fonts or not.
It seems that it doesn't, even though you can use the same fonts in other apps, even lowly WordPad. Once you get them installed. Which can be frustrating. See, I keep all my font files on a shared network drive so I can install them quickly at need or remove them w/o having to worry about how I'll get them back quickly. I've been doing this w/o problems ever since I first installed a network pre-Windows. But. I tried all of the usual ways of installing a couple Type 1 fonts into Win 8 and got nowhere. It'd pretend to be installing them but they'd never appear in the Fonts folder. The same methods I tried (w/o luck) in Win 8 worked perfectly in Win 7 (same font source, 64-bit Windows in each case). Regardless of how I tried to install to Win8, they never installed, I never saw any sort of error message. But in trying to follow another suggestion, I stumbled across this: if I copy the fonts to a folder on the Win8 desktop, then install them from there rather than from the network share, it works. They install. Sure would've appreciated a message about what was knotting your knickers, Windows. __________________ Steve Rindsberg ==================== www.pptfaq.com www.pptools.com and stuff |
