Default MAC CS5 Scanning

I am working with a client who just set up an iMac with CS5. He has an HP AIO and wants to scan with Photoshop. I do not find Import from Scanner as I would expect, but I go to Settings, Printer/FAX, choose Scan, I can scan from the HP directly to Photoshop.

I suspect the 64 bit version of Photoshop is not 'seeing' the 32 bit scanner interface, but am unclear on how to correct the problem.

Suggestions? I can use a Mac, but troubleshooting like this is a challenge for me.
