According to a Mac Geekery note, “WYSIWYG comes to Safari 1.3” — but only in an odd way. Readers can make text bold or italic and make other transformations of text they read on the web.
The added routines — which is based on Microsoft technology — evidently will have other, presumably more useful, functions in the future. According to the web site, “Safari is adapting Microsoft’s contentEditable including execCommand and designMode.” At first I thought maybe it meant that Safari could now work with the formatting text editor on CompuServe forums, but alas, no. Nor are the misalignment problems fixed (the stacked, instead of arrayed, icons at the top of forum screens, for example). Oh, well. __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |
