In 2003 I wrote a guide to camping and caravan sites in Britain with a view of the sea which was just text and was printed by a village printer who is what I suppose one would call a, Digital Printer”. It was 400 pages and cost about £4.75 a copy to print.
I then thought that I would write a sequal called something like, "The best 150 Sea View Camping & Caravan Sites in Britain" only this time in colour. When I mentioned it to the printer he said it should not be to expensive as it would be half the size of the first book. When I was nearly ready to print I asked for a price and he calculated it at £16.00 a copy. It would appear that I have wasted a lot of time that is unless anyone can tell me if there is anyone in the Abingdon area of England who could print it at a more realistic price. The specification is as follows: A5 size in paperback. Pages with the top half showing a colour photograph of the site with the bottom half giving the detail and a print run of 1000. |
