I have just tested a nifty bit of software to use on a shoot in the next week or two, having shown the client the preview images on the camera LCD, got the OK, then a resounding "no" when they saw the finished shots.
![]() It is a camera control script that allows you to shoot, and then preview images almost immediately, on the PC to which the camera is tethered. You can buy software from Nikon to do this (Canon users get it free), but I don't use it often enough to do so. http://www.diyphotobits.com/download...amera-control/ So, next week it will be camera, tripod, laptop, and cables! As it will be on the Cobb, I shall have to be very careful not to trip over a lead and shoot the lot into the sea. Works with most dSLRs after the D70 - I tested D80 on XP. __________________ Lois Wakeman http://lois.co.uk http://communicationarts.co.uk http://i4info.blog.co.uk |

Thank you, I would have loved something like that for my D80, but it's Windows only.

From the same site - a recommendation for another Mac script:

Aww, you almost had me depressed, but it looks like "after the D70" should be "including and after the D70". And that's good news to me since a D70 is what I have.
Thanks for posting this. It'll be very useful indeed. Sooner or later I'll need to do a lot of copystand work, and this should make it a great deal more pleasant and efficient. __________________ Steve Rindsberg ==================== www.pptfaq.com www.pptools.com and stuff |

Thanks from me, too! The Mac-based software you linked to, "Sofortbild", looks great--AND it supports the D70 (which I've got), AND it's freeware! I'm going to try it and if I like it, I'll definitely give the developer a donation. I'm thinking it'll be great for my microscope work—no more trying to fine-focus while squinting down into that dim, grainy viewfinder image (fingers crossed).
