Quick initial impressions:
  1. It installed easily. No activation code required. The license limits me to installing on one computer but if this one goes down and I want to install on another machine, there shouldn't be a problem.
  2. No templates for books, but it provides for left and right pages, so books should be possible.
  3. Limited to two master pages, so not possible to set up a third master for the first page of a chapter. Need to explore what that means in terms of headers and footers.
  4. The program was last updated in 2008! That creates a bit of a problem because it supports text import from Word .doc format, but not Word .docx format -- which is what I use. [But the traditionalists might be relieved to know that it will import from Wordstar.]
