Being able to download an extension from an external source and store the file on my computer (or server) doesn't help me, because I'm not smart enough to know how to install it. If it doesn't show up within the extensions the browser will allow me to install directly, I'm out of luck. |

OR...did you try hovering your mouse over the uBOLegacy direct link link and RIGHT-click, choosing the "copy link location" option (which copies the url of the xpi file) and then you can open a new Pale Moon window (or start a new session) and paste into a new browser window's address bar, press the Enter key and follow the prompts to install? >>because I'm not smart enough to know how to install it. Download the xpi and save it someplace you can (easily) access and then: 1. Open Pale Moon 2. Click on Tools menu > Add-ons 3. In the Add-ons "Extensions" section, near the top, right-hand side of the page you should see a gear icon (to the left of the "search all add-ons" data entry box) 4. Click on the down-arrow icon on the gear icon and choose "install add-on from file..." option from the drop down menu 5. Navigate to wherever you saved the xpi file you downloaded and click on it to choose it 6. A pop-up window should open displaying a uBlock Origin install notice 7. Click on the "Install Now" button and then a notice should display (near the top) that the install was successful... OR--the following doesn't always work with all extensions but should work with uBO: 1. With Pale Moon closed 2. Copy the xpi you downloaded to the Pale Moon's profile "extensions" subfolder (for example for my portable version of Pale Moon 31: F:\PaleMoon31Portable\User\Palemoon\Profiles\ Default\extensions) 3. Open Pale Moon and it should pop up a "do you want to install this addon" window 4. Checkmark "Allow this installation" and then click on the "continue" button to complete the install Terrie Last edited by terrie; 07-18-2022 at 07:06 PM. Reason: fix a typo |

What can I say? It's a computer. Mortals aren't supposed to understand it. |

Shame on you!!! '-}} Sorry...that was just way too good to pass up...'-}} Soooo...have you installed uBO Legacy? I did on Sunday in my main Pale Moon portable and I have been playing with it. At first I was annoyed and frustrated that I couldn't change the allowed/blocked sites without have to go through convolutions--I hate convolutions! However, later in the evening I had a thought about that and yesterday I checked the "I am an advanced user" option (dashboard > settings tab) and BINGO!!! life is good as I now have full control and uBO works in many the same ways as uMatrix (same author so not surprising) and Request Policy. I was a bit confused by the uBO display so I took a browse around Gorhill's documentation wiki more specifically his page on the pop-up user display and spent more time on his discussion of "dynamic filtering" which is just a fancy-schmancy way of saying "user chosen" allowing/blocking. While I need to continue testing it, I'm impressed with uBO and have disabled both the Adblock Latitude and Request Policy addons--I may remove them but for now, disabling gets them out of the way while I'm testing. I also need to test using uBO in Firefox... Terrie Last edited by terrie; 07-19-2022 at 08:18 PM. Reason: fix a typo... |
