Batch UN-Solarize pix?

I had a small industrial accident today, taking some pictures in bright sunlight with my cell phone. I must have hit "effects" and scrolled it over to "solarize" because a mess of the pix happened that way before I could actually SEE the washed-out screen and figure out what had happened.

They're nothing critical, just some documentation, but it would be real nice if there was just some "batch unsolarize" applet out there.

It you figure out how to unsolarize one, then the "batch" part could be handled with an action or droplet. But I don't know how to unsolarize one. OTOH, it depends on what you really need out of the result. If this is just text, there should be ways to clean it up. Maybe threshold. Or some sort of levels or curves along with desaturate. Depends on what it looks like.

Would it look okay desaturated and levels?

BTW, I took a look at the historgrams. It looks like it is chopping off the bottom and shoving the top into the bottom with some squishing, channel by channel. There has got to be a way to improve it, but I can't figure it out.

From your description, sounds like it's thrown away information, so not likely it can be undone.

A (software) 'solarizing' effect actually throws away some (or a lot of) image information, both in colors and detail (although implementations will differ). What's not there cannot be brought back... That doesn't mean you may not be able to make them look mor 'acceptable' (to your eyes) but you canot bring image information back that is no longer there.
