I will do my best to have a great day. The weather looks promising, a large grey heron was on the beach when I woke up this morning (that must be some kind of good omen, no?), and we are going out to dinner to one of our favorite places this evening. Sounds pretty good.

Hope it continues as it began. I had a reminder for your birthday, but of course it was almost a day early. Then I forgot to post, so thanks to Marjolein for noticing!

I, too, had a reminder set for your birthday but Marjolein was on top of it.

I think the heron is a fantastic omen and I'm sure dinner out will be most enjoyable! Do take mental notes of the best bits and report back. I have no dinners out planned until our anniversary which is still a week and a half or so away ... so dining out vicariously has considerable appeal.

Thanks. I will let you know. I could also give you a description of the meal we had a while back at Paul Newman’s new restaurant in Westport. Everything is healthy and/or from sustainable sources, but still tasty.

Tonight we are going to a wonderful southern Italian place with a fabulous wine list. I hope she has scallops; she dry-sautés them perfectly, and I usually get them with spinach. The owner is also an excellent baker, so I think I will have cake.

I wish! Our dishwasher has died, so we just wasted three hours trying to figure out what to replace it with. What a boring topic, and how difficult to find any model from any maker at any price point without finding a raft of complaints posted on-line.

And then I ran into a big problem (can you spell BUG?) in the new version of WordPress (2.5). In fact, I think I will post about it.

Oh, dear!

There's obviously an advantage in not having a mechanical dishwasher. My biggest decision is what washing up brush to buy at the supermarket.

And I'm glad I didn't upgrade my WordPress.

My dishwasher (Jack) will go on strike if he doesn’t have a machine. And I sure don’t want to do the dishes (already need to do some of them, as Jack ignores anything he cannot go at energetically or throw into the machine).

Smart move. I may need to downgrade, if it will let me. Grrr.

The editor is in other ways much improved; for one thing, it no long messes with your code. Just the images and the image code.
