Default Looking for an image

I volunteered to help the pastor of my church get a book he has written into print. I can handle the interior formatting, but the cover is a stumbling block. Ideally, I would like him to hire a cover artist -- but I don't think his financial circumstances will allow that. This means that I may become the cover designer by default.

I'm looking for an image that conveys the idea of a religious pilgrim. Not looking for the stereotypical American, Thanksgiving pilgrim in a black suit with one of those funny hats, but more along the lines of a man walking along a dirt road or a path, perhaps with a walking stick or staff. Doesn't have to be a photograph -- in fact, I would be overjoyed if the image is a classic woodcut or etching.

Free/public domain would be great, if possible.

Does anyone have any leads?

Assuming this pastor is Christian, I would search on
Christian walking
Jesus walking
Jesus walking with stick

And then try again with "stock image" added to the end of each one.

You can also take ones you like and use them for an image search on Bing to see similar images.

The Wikipedia page on the Camino de Santiago has some old artwork which might be a starting point for further searches.

Unsplash is one source I've used in the past. Now owned by iStock, but there are still images you can use for free, like this one - a modern version of a pilgrim if you like.

Googled "image hiker silhouette" and got a few possibles; apparently it's now mandatory to use ski poles to go for a walk, but I don't think they'll fit your bill. Still, there are some without. You might also search Wikimedia Commons ... commons.wikimedia.org

I like that one very much. It would be perfect for an e-book -- I'm not sure what to do about wrapping it onto the spine and back cover for print, though.
