I use Adobe Reader 6.0.6 on a W98 system. I have a large number of PDF files. The text of some appear as white against a black background. To print a copy of such an article is a needless waste of toner. I was wondering if there was some trick I could employ to force printing of such pages as black text on a white background.

Sounds like an "invert" command is what you need...haven't a clue if Reader would do that for you...
Could you open the pdf in an imaging program and then invert the page & print??? Terrie |

What kind of (W98) program could open a PDF then invert the page colors?

Adobe Illustrator should do this for you quite easily, though you need to look out for font substitution. You'll need Illustrator v10 or less, by the way.

I could not afford Adobe Illustrator, at least for this purpose, even if a version were still available for W98. Any other possibilities?

I have ScanSoft's PaperPort SE version 9.0. It is the only imaging software I have than can read PDF files. Nothing therein appears to have color or b&w inversion.
For other image formats, I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro version 7.02. It does not read PDF files. __________________ RJ Emery, Eastern USA WordPerfect 8 User on Vista System |

RJ...what happens if you use the Reader selection tool to select the text, then copy (ctrl-c) and then maybe open WordPerfect and paste into a new document. What do you get???

That will certainly work, but I don't care to perform all those steps each and every time for numerous documents. I'm looking for something that would be 1-2-3 click, and I get what I need. These files are not just simple text but contain numerous diagrams, charts, illustrations, photos, etc.
