I feel like I'm going crazy. I'm using InDesign CS2 and have the document ready to pdf to send to the printer. The master pages are formatted, page numbers at the bottom etc and it all looks good.
When I pdf it, the page numbers at the bottom are all missing! If anyone can save my hair from being pulled out, please .....?? Thanks, Aylwen |

Did you follow the same procedure as in the past (when, presumably, it worked)? Is there any chance you have not assigned a master page to the text pages? Are you asking ID to make the PDFs for you, or some other method? Have you printed out some of the PDF pages to see if the problem occurs in print as well as screen? Does the whole page show in the PDF? That is, could the PDF somehow be cut off at the bottom? You could check this by measuring a printed page from the PDF. Do other master page items appear in the PDF? If there are no other items, you could test this by placing a big red dot in the middle of the page, and making another PDF. If you don’t see the red dot, then for some reason the master pages are not being used. And you could add a red dot next to the page numbers, just to be extra clear. Let us know how it goes. __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |

One thing to check is that the bleed extent is correctly set at the PDF export stage: the dialog box defaults to whatever bleed is set in Document Setup, but you can override it if you want.
If that's set correctly, do the page numbers disappear if you change the screen mode (in the View menu) from normal to bleed? If they remain, something's up with the document formatting rather than the export. __________________ Robin Intellectually challenged, alcoholically propelled |

Move the page numbers into the middle of the page. If they still don't print, there's a problem with the font not printing. If they do print, there's something wrong with the bleed, or you may be inside the unprintable area of the page for that device.
"Divide and conquer" to reduce the number of possible problems until you get it down to one. |
