I talked with him and he's fine with my rendering the packaging in Illustrator. It's a clamshell package as you'd see hanging on a peg in a store aisle, containing a set of hardware for hanging picture frames (nails, screws, and patented brackets). He's approved the plastic clamshell for development, and now we're refining the design of the paper slipcard. He's pretty firm on a lot of the elements, but I'm developing a mascot character, revising the logo, and just polishing the overall design aesthetics of the slipcard.
