Ready for the printer ... ?
My neighborhood homeowners' association's annual dues are voluntary. Yesterday the annual solicitation letter arrived, including the dues form and return envelope.
There was also a little card containing the predictable plea for dues, reminding us what it is possible to do with even a small number of people of like mind. On the card we see this quotation, attributed to Edward Everett Hale: "I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do." Nice, isn't it? We also see this quotation, attributed to Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Stirring! Finally, for the finale, we have this quote, attributed to our association's president: "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consetetur sadipscing elitr, sed diam nonumy eirmod tempor invidunt una aliquyam erat, sed diam voluptua." I imagine that 99% of those who received this card are still scratching their heads and that the rest of us suspect this card went to the printer in a bit of a rush ... __________________ John Rabold |
