Default MS Excel--->HTML

A year or so ago, I did a table for Chadwick that contained a list of Cattleyas that he had for sale, but he never did have me update it as those flowers were sold. Due to the explosion of his business from a variety of great publicity (national and international) he decided to keep it current. One of his employees keeps an Excel spreadsheed for the purpose. The most recent update involved adding about 80 items and various other changes. It took me over 90 minutes to get the job done. He was surprised that the charge on his bill was so high and asked why I didn't just put the spreadsheed itself on the page. I told him that the last time I checked, Excel *can* be converted to HTML but it isn't very good code and it probably would not render well on all browsers. I don't have the actual spreadsheet to test because the employee has always sent it to me as a Word doc. Am I correct or should I get a copy of Excel and try it?
