Thanks so much for that link. Unfortunately, while the link works and actually goes to a page with info on activation, but there is no longer the option to sign in and get a new serial number--I had read about this in forum postings but didn't quite understand until I read your old post. I think that must have been what Adobe removed a couple of years ago.

I always block Acrobat's online access after I got the e-license (and I think I also chose "never register") so perhaps that's why I've never had the sorts of issues you described...

>>Aha! It's Foxit PhantomPDF, with its annoying ribbon menu.

LOL!!! I'm so glad! I'm not the only one who thinks Foxit's ribbon is annoying--so much so that Foxit is at the bottom of my list of print2pdf software I will be testing over the next few days. Also, I found Foxit's approach to downloading their software annoying also--reminds me I need to go and check my yahoo email account to see if Foxit sent me something...

>>And I don't remember because WordPerfect can generate PDFs on its own.

Which version of WP are you using? My old WP8 doesn't have a built-in pdf option...

I've never actually used Acrobat to do anything. I only install it to get the PDF printer instance. I've got 6-8 print2pdf software applications to test--some of which are free--and I'll report back on what I find and which one I decide to keep...
