I don't use Word, but my first step would be to see if I can add a background image the size of the page and attach it to a page style, assuming such a thing exists in Word. And see if/how this image can exceed margins so it gets to the edge of the page. And see if/how I can vary the image for opposing pages if I want to bother with that.
